On Behalf of the IP PAC Board of Directors
I invite you to join me in the Iowa Psychiatric Society legislative efforts by donating to the IP PAC .
The past legislative session was a huge success for the Iowa Psychiatric Society, but our victories did not come in the form of introduced legislation or new initiatives. Instead, this turned out to be a year where we ended up on the defensive. But we were defending our patients and our profession; worthy goals indeed.
Most of our legislative victories are the direct result of contact between IPS members and legislators. But we feel that our voice is even stronger when these contacts are reinforced by support from IP PAC. We may have a very strong legislative presence right now, but this could change very quickly if we do not diligently maintain our efforts. It is far better to sustain and build our legislative capabilities proactively rather than having to react haphazardly in response to a crisis. I hope that you will make a contribution this year so that we can remain prepared.

ABOUT IP PAC
IP PAC’s Goal
To raise $3000 by December 2009. If every member gave $25 we would exceed our goal. Contributions are not limited to$25 and larger donations are encouraged to meet our goal.
What is IP PAC?
The Iowa Psychiatric Society Political Action Committee (IP PAC) is the political arm of the IPS, which represents 225 psychiatrists in Iowa. IPS/PAC is a voluntary, non-profit organizations that was formed in 2007 to inform members about candidates, solicit personal contributions from IPS members and contribute to state candidates who support issues important to the mental health community.
Why Join IP PAC?
The IP PAC works closely with the IPS Legislative Committee to identify key mental health issues and provide information to IPS members about those issues. Policymakers need to hear from psychiatrists about how to improve mental health services. By supporting candidates who support improving mental health services, IP PAC makes a strong statement about what issues are important to psychiatrists in Iowa.
